In our modern society, it is required to engage in commerce in order to survive. It is virtually impossible to truly be free of commerce. In order to survive, people must have shelter, water, and food. In that order specifically. Therefore the acquisition of those resources should be considered a human right. Therefore, if commerce is required to survive, than commerce is a human right. The Constitution of America, is a human rights document where the governed agree to be governed as long as the government accepts and abides by the rights laid out in the Constitution. Individuals and businesses possess a constitutional right to engage in economic activity, protected against arbitrary government interference by the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment.
