White studied yes-or-no health questions using a survey, labeled search results and a large log of real searches. Searchers favored positive answers more than physicians' consensus answers would justify. The search engine also favored one perspective, usually the positive one, regardless of the truth. About half the answers searchers settled on were wrong. Search for the claim and for its opposite, and read both result pages before you decide.
