The 2016 replication used a single standardized task, based on the procedure from one earlier study. Across 23 labs the overall effect was near zero, although two labs found a significant effect and one found a significant reverse effect. Baumeister and Vohs, who originated the theory, published a response calling the project misguided. A null result shows that this method, run this way, didn't produce the effect. Write the note at that level: name the method, not just the conclusion.
